Chopping wood

Quite a lot has happened since my last post – it is fall, and that means a fresh academic calendar with all the joys and tribulations of resuming a regular teaching schedule. I have moved to a fantastic new place in the Santa Barbara riviera, which means a lot more walking and a lot less sitting in a car on the freeway.
Just before moving, I enjoyed a very successful concert tour of Washington state in September. I traveled and performed along with soprano Linda Tsatsanis and pianist Angela Dragichescu from Seattle through Yakima, Wenatchee, Chelan, Omak and all the way to Oroville on the Canadian border. In addition to recitals, we did some 25 school presentations for students from kindergarten through high school, which was exhausting, but highly rewarding and interesting. Hopefully I will post about that in more depth soon…
I will be appearing with Linda and Angela again in the Seattle and Portland areas in March as we begin our exploration of the soprano-viola-piano concert repertoire.
It may be quiet on the news front for the time being, as priorities such as completing dissertations, organizing recording projects and the daily grind of a teaching and gigging (and living!) schedule dominate my energies. If all goes according to plan, there will be some exciting announcements to come out of this period of work. But in the meantime, it’s back to chopping wood.
